From April 21st to 22nd, 2006 we held a leadership camp for Bal Sena Council members in Nari Gaam, just outside of Bhavnagar. The camp aimed to strengthen the children’s understanding of Bal Sena and develop qualities of responsibility and self-discipline. Children took part in role plays depicting disciplined and undisciplined ways of behaving and discussed the benefits and importance of being disciplined. In teams, they created a plan of activities for the upcoming year. They received training about the Right to Information Act. They also took part in activities to build responsibility, in which they had to identify their main responsibilities in Bal Sena and create pie charts to visually represent their share of Bal Sena’s responsibilities. The children watched a film called “Boot Polish” in the evening and played Play for Peace games for recreation. Shaishav conducted 4 other 1-day leadership camps for all Bal Sena members in different zones around Bhavnagar, which followed similar topics to the Nari Camp. |
