Kishori Mandal Five girls and two women mentors will be traveling to St. Paul, Minnesota, United States in July 2006 to attend the GIF international summit. Girls representing countries from around the world will be attending, and the five Balsena girls are the only group going from India. At that time, they will present an action plan created by the GIF girls. The girls have chosen to focus on the issue of education and have created a series of short and long-term goals as well as concrete steps on how to address the problem in a time span of one year.
The girls have already conducted about 300 surveys in the target communities. The survey was conducted by the GIF girls to other girls, aged 12 to 18 years. They asked questions about the girls’ background, education issues, health issues, opinions and dreams. A thorough analysis of this survey has been completed and will be presented at the GIF Summit.
Kishori Mela From January 2006 to June 2006 Shaishav organized 4 Kishori Melas and 233 girls benefited.
Wenlido In March 2006, a Wenlido Milan was held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where Wenlido trainers from all around India came together from the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Maharastra, and Tamil Nadu.
A Gujarat network meeting was held on May 5th in Bhavnagar. Fourteen trainers were in attendance. They reviewed advanced concepts, shared experiences, and made future plans.
Basic workshops continue to be held throughout the state. So far, Shaishav Wenlido trainers have reached out to over 600 women and girls.
